Placemat Bag

Ok so I finally made my placemat bag. I needed a new bag for my scriptures and other church books. It works great and I keep getting compliments on it.
Here's what you need:
1 placemat (made of fabric)
2-3 yards (depends on how long you want your handles)grosgrain ribbon or other sturdy trim(found in the by the yard lace)
thread to match
Instructions:
Pin ribbon on the placemat while it lays flat. Start ribbon in the middle so seam will be on the bottom. Make sure you even out the handles. I usually pin it and then hold it up to see if the handles match.
Sew the ribbon tuck under the ends in the middle so they will be on the bottom.
Fold the placemat inside out and sew up the sides.
To get the crease at the bottom so the bag will stand up fold the corner into a triangle and sew across it. The wider you make this the wider your bag will be on the bottom.
Any questions??? Call me!!!
